Aussie Cross From Shelter is Very Thirsty

by Wilda
(Florida)

It it a breed thing, this thirstiness? this is my 2nd Aussie, the first one was pure bred, I thought his thirst was due to his illness, he was epileptic, but this new, mix breed I just got from the shelter, always seems to be thirsty too.

Note from Anton: Being unusually thirsty can be a sign of medical problems like diabetes. Have a look at the information here and you may need to have blood sugar levels checked by your vet. If that is the case you may be able to control it with diet/exercise but insulin therapy may be recommended. Diabetes in Dogs
