Aussie Nipping/Jumping At My Roomate

by Kate
(Flagstaff, AZ)

I have a 10 year old female Aussie, named Star, who has always been an only child. Recently, I moved in with a roommate who has a 9 year old, male Dachshund. So far the dogs get along. Star is clearly superior and protective over the 15 pound wiener. However, every time my roommate goes to pick up her dachshund, Star will run over and jump/nip at my roommate. I feel as though she is just being protective of the little dog, however, my roommate is afraid my dog will bite her. Star has never bit anyone or been this digressive towards a human. Any advise on what I should do?
Thanks!
