Aussies and Guinea Pigs

by Rob
(Australia)

Our Aussie "Zola" is now 7 months old. We have 3 guinea pigs in a hutch which she will often sit and pine/whine in front of. She has a favorite GP and whenever we try to introduce the two, Zola will go into a licking frenzy including nuzzling the GP to get access to its belly and even using her large paws. I'm concerned that it is causing the GP stress and that even if it's play, Zola could hurt the GP or worse.

Is the licking just grooming behaviour? Does anyone have experience with Aussies and GP's?

Thanks in advance.

Rob
