An oral medication for fleas, is it OK to give it to our Aussies?

As flea killers go, it is my understanding that CAPSTAR is the safest. Do be aware that its effects last for just about 24 hours. You need to combine it with other actions, such as frequent vacuuming, frequent washing of dog bed, and perhaps applications of FOOD-GRADE diatomaceous earth (NOT pool-grade!!) in the environment and even on the dog.

Whatever you do, DO NOT GIVE Frontline Plus. It caused our Aussie to have seizures.

We have used Frontline plus on both our Aussies without any issues. They are also both on Sentinel heartworm med with a flea preventative

SOME Aussies carry the MDR1 gene mutation causing them to have reactions to certain heart guards and medications. While other Aussies do not carry the gene and are perfectly fine. You just need to research their parents genetics and if not just be careful with what you give them. 😊
