Dog Bit My 13 Year Old Son

My Miniature Aussie bit my 13 year old son. My son was creeping behind me and jumped up to scare me. My dog bit him on the leg. He immediately knew he had done something wrong. I am worried that this could happen again. He is extremely protective / possessive of me (more so than anyone else in the family). Does this mean he does not love my son or that he was simply trying to protect me? Would he have done the same if my Husband had tried to scare me (my husband provides most of his care - I think my dog sees him as the master).

How can I get my dog to see my son as more of a master?

Sounds like he is being protective of you, but I was not there so that is my opinion.

Training may help

I agree, I think he was protecting you. My Aussie does the same thing and we are working on getting him out of this. We my son or husband hugs me Charlie dog will bark and growl. We are seeing a trainer that is helping with this. It is ok to a certain point but Aussies tend to take it a little further than necessary.

Hope your son is ok.
