Double Merle

I have an 7 year old Australian Shepherd and she is great. I now have a chance to get a free merle pup but I believe it is a double merle because of one of his eyes has problems. The pup is about 9 weeks old can someone tell me what I might be in for later down the road or should I not take the pup for a pet only.
