Goodbye My Dear Sweet Shadow

by Greg
(Goodyear, Arizona, USA)

Harley was my best buddy for almost 6 years. He passed away unexpectedly last weekend. His absence has left a huge hole in my heart.

I came upon Harley when he was 9 months old. He was bred for show but did not conform to standards due to a slight overbite. Boy, that was my lucky day! Thus began a journey filled with joy, laughter and love.

Harley loved to chase jack rabbits in the high desert of southern New Mexico, learning to find them by watching my hand signals. He never caught one, but boy did he love to run through the brush after them... head popping up from time to time looking for a sign from me on which way to go.

He was the frisbee king at the park. People would oooh and aah over his amazing agility and flare for catching and retrieving a disc. He would take his Aerobie ring and flip it over his neck while running back to me, flipping it back off and dropping it before dashing off in anticipation of the next throw.

He was a clown who could make me smile no matter how down I was. He always did things in a big way, like bringing me the morning paper after tossing it around in the driveway a few times. One day he decided I needed more than one paper so he went up and down the street bringing me back the neighbors papers! And oh how I will miss his wiggle butt and Aussie grin!!

I love you Harley. We didn't have long together, but we made the most of it every day!

I a so sorry for your loss. I have been in your exact position: Sudden, unexpected, traumatic death of our dear little Carley. She was one week shy of her first birthday.

I will pray for you.

so sorry
by: Anonymous

I'm so sorry to hear of your best buddys departure. we went through the same a little over 2 years ago with our Luke, he was only 5. the hole he left was tremendous, but in time we got another little guy, he has helped healed the broken heart and hurt. he is smaller and funnier, and we have grown to love him too. we still miss our Luke and sometimes accidentally call Cooper, Luke, but now we can smile with our memories of him, instead of cry. I pray the same same for you someday.

I feel for your loss. Each dog I have had has taken a piece of my heart when they they left me. But I treasure the time I had with each one. They are such precious little wiggle butts.

Wiggle Butt
by: AnonymousMaria

I am sorry for your loss but the memories are great aren't they? When you said you would miss his wiggle butt it made me smile cos my Maxxie is the king of the wiggle butt. I also sometimes call him "Velcro" cos he always following me and I noticed you called Harley your shadow. Let's hope they will be at the rainbow bridge waiting for us one day.
