Itching and Scratching in Fall Months

by Rebecca
(Michigan)

I have 2 Aussies and both are itching and scratching since the middle of September and losing hair everywhere. They don't have fleas. I have given them both Oatmeal baths and it hasn't stopped yet. What do I do?

Dogs usually change coat spring and fall, it's the only time my Aussie sheds, and scratching is part of it. If that is what is going on with your two, it should die down once they are done and have their full winter coat. If it goes on into the winter, it could be dryness from the furnace being turned on, or it could be allergies. Changing their diet might help in that case.
