Missy

by Samantha Hilby
(Sextonville, WI, Richland County)

Missy is our red tri color, Aussie. She is only 4 months old, but is extremely bright. We have had her since she was 8 weeks old. When we got Missy, she was used to being in a barn with her mother, father, and other siblings; so she was not used to having to tell someone when she needed outside. At our house Missy is an inside dog, so we did have to potty train her. It didn't take Missy long to learn, as Aussies are quick learners. Within a month of having her she was potty trained.

She has also never been in a crate. Missy is a very well-mannered pup and loves to play. She is a big baby or as my husband says a "Cat". The reason my husband says she is a cat is because she will get up on the back of the couch and lay, she will walk across the coffee table, and she always wants to be held and snuggled. Missy loves to sleep in bed with my son, Xander, or my husband and I. She loves to wrap around our heads when she is sleeping or sleep right on the pillow like a person would.

I am working on training Missy to herd our chickens into their hut without touching them. The first couple times she has done wonderful. So we will keep working. I have also told my husband that we can train her to be our rabbit dog, as she loves to track rabbits. Missy is a wonderful pet and is part of the Hilby family.
