One Year Old Male Blue Merle

I have a one year old male blue merle, Frankie, that my family and I love. Recently, I have been having problems with excessive barking and aggression towards other dogs and some people. I used to take him to my business every day, but now I cannot, as he bit the Fedex driver and my brother. In his defense, both times I was sitting at my desk, and he was defending me. I bought a shock collar which helps, but I hate it. With people he is used to, he is wonderful, but he is afraid of mostly everyone else. I want to work this out with him as my whole family loves him.
