Puppy And Submissive Urination

by Happy Puppy Mom
(Ontario)

Hi there, I have an incredible 10 week old Aussie pup. She is very well mannered, easy going (so far) girl. She eagerly goes to meet new people and other dogs and is very friendly. She does not do this with people but I found when she meets new dogs (they have coincidentally been big dogs) she happily approaches them then lies on her back and pees. Is this just her showing her place in the world or should I be concerned that she is overly submissive. My gut says she is just happy with her status in the world and wants no trouble or am I incorrect? Thanks

Submissive urination
by: Anne Calmes

She will grow out of it as she is socialized and learns that no one will hurt her. She is what we call a "soft dog". She is sensitive to her surroundings. Talk sweet to her and build her confidence up when you suspect she may do it and talk her through it.
Hope that helps
