Dove Cresswell's Puppy & Dog Training Online - Sample Lesson

USA, CA, 6 Year Old, Shania

by Lisa G
(Ojai CA USA)

Need an immediate loving home for a very sweet, loyal 6 yr old Australian Shepherd Mix! Her name is "Shania", a 6 year old Australian Shepherd Mix looking for a home. She is staying with us temporarily as a friend of ours who is a single mom had to move into an apartment which doesn't take pets.We wanted to help our friend who was looking for a home for her, and didn't want to see her have to go to the local kill shelter because there are so many dogs who get put down due to overcrowding, plus she is from a shelter adoptee (this same girlfriend adopted her as a pup) originally.

She loves going for walks, hikes, just going bye bye makes her happy! She is very well leash trained (she gets SO excited as soon as she sees her leash!) as well as knowing some tricks including "shake", "hug", "lay down", "speak" and is good with other dogs, all age kids and other pets. My daughter babysits different aged kids so we have tried her out to make sure and they have and each done their fair share of being a kid around her. She just loved them, never doing anything aggressive or mean and just wags her tail content she is getting "loved" on!

She would be great in pretty much any kind of home setting as long as she gets love and affection! I know she would do well in many different types of home environments, whether it's a single working person whom she can travel/go to work with (like a construction worker job or office setting for example) or with someone who is at home alot and is looking for a companion... she would also be a great companion for a family too!

I will say she is a bit overweight and we have her on a reduced food plan she as our friend had some health problems before moving into the apartment so she didn't get out much and my friend admits she did feed her "extra" out of guilt BUT she is well on her way to being more healthy :o)

We cant keep her as we live in a mobile home and already have 2 dogs, but DO want to make sure she is going to a good home!

Email me with questions or if you think she would be a good fit for you and your family.
