USA, CT, Avon - DOB 1/6/2000 - Harvey - Red-Tri Male

by Jane L
(Avon, CT, USA)

Harvey is a very sweet Red Tri male, almost 11 years old. I am going through a divorce. My toddler and I have moved back into my mother's home. With everything going on with the divorce, working 3 jobs to pay the bills, and my mother being overwhelmed by all of us moving in, I think it would be best for Harvey to find him a new forever home.

When he was a pup, I spoiled him rotten, he was my everything. He excelled in puppy-kindergarten classes, and I also took him to a versitility course that taught a little of agility, frisbee, tracking, etc. Harvey LOVES to play frisbee. He is extremely loyal and will follow you everywhere.

He is not great with cats. Tolerates other dogs. But seems to prefer to be the one and only. I want to find him a loving home where he can be spoiled with attention again, as I no longer have the time. He does well with small children and has been very gentle with my daughter.

Even at his age, he still loves running with me. I love taking him trail running when I have time and he's showing no signs of slowing down. He prefers to be off-leash.

I just spent almost $600 on Harvey between the groomer and the Vet, getting him all up to date on his vaccinations and getting his coat groomed and bathed.

Harvey

Jane/ I'm on a hundred eighty acre farm in western mass.have rescued three Aussies that have now passed and raised one from a puppy. My childhood we also had one. The chow mix we currently have is lonely as she was raised by two rescue Aussie males and she herself raised a purebred Aussie pup.interested in seeing Harvey into retirement. Husband hikes our woods so would get exercise lots.

Harvey....
by: MaryLynn...

Do not give him up yet! I too had to move down south with 2 small children to live with my Mom and step-Dad...they charged me rent and I had a cat...that my Mom was making me keep outside...the children and I moved to our own place 3 months later,my Mom asked to keep "Bubba", as they both fell in love with him...he died attacking a snake that would have bit my Mom...another tr. Later I was able to get the kids a Maltese puppy, again,we had to move and the kids were heartbroken @ once again having to give up their pet...Chloe live d long time with my parents, they loved her dearly, she wore a big red bow @ my step dads funeral...my mom and I cried together when we had to releave her of her pain...her ashes sit on our family piano, along with my step dad, waiting for my mom....Never give up...animals bring such joy and Harvey might just be what you all need to keep you going...
Blessings,
MaryLynn

Self-sacrifice

Jane- I know it must be killing you to do this but I believe you are doing the right thing. It's not fair to Harvey or you and your family. Hopefully it will all work out so that Harvey finds a new, loving family. And I know you will do the best to make sure that happens. This is a tough situation all around and I wish you the best of luck. I would take Harvey myself if it weren't for another high energy, 1 year old hound dog who owns my house and would eat Harvey for breakfast- figuratively, of course! You're in my prayers.

I'm so sorry

I know how you must feel, this is a very difficult time for all of you, but I think you just try and give it some time, maybe he and you and all of you will adjust to the new schedule and you won't have to give him up. I say this,in part because of his age,and your relationship with him as well. Your gonna miss him, and he you. He's not old, but he's up there, and he may not do well in any other home. He may go through separation anxiety, and get sick. He is beautiful, and sounds great, but still... I know you want whats best for him, but if I were you, I'd wait a while and see. If you do decide to give him up, I pray it goes well for you and him, and that you will all be happier.
