HUNTER
Hunter is a male red merle who has been neutered. He is in excellent health and is obedience trained. He is extremely smart and can do many tricks to include sit, lay down, roll over, give paw, turn in circle, go under things. When told "get that" he will also pick up objects off the floor and give them to you. He walks well on a leash and catches frisbees in mid air. He can be trained to do obstacle courses. He has an excellent lineage and pedigree.
Hunter lives on 5 acres with us and patrols the property keeping deer and other animals from our fruit trees, grapes and vegetable garden. He does an excellent job chasing deer off and loves to be congratulated for that.
Hunter is occasionally dropped at doggie day care to socialize or to a kennel when we vacation. He loves other dogs and loves to play with them anywhere. He gets along well with other humans too but (here is the catch) only as long it is off our property.
The kicker with him is that he does not like human visitors on our property. Very territorial. He feels he must guard us and will attempt to corral and threaten human visitors. We have tried to no avail to break him of this habit. He has not bitten anyone but he acts in an untrustworthy manner so we have to tie him outside or put him in the laundry room when we have friends over because he becomes a whack job. I suspect he was not well socialized to humans when little. We got him at 1 1/2 yrs.
Hunter will love his immediate human family which could include dogs and children once he knows who is in the pack but he needs some room and a job. He was tested with sheep and scored well. The territorial thing appears inbred with him. Many Aussies are this way. I am contemplating opening a daycare and I can't be worrying about his chasing or threatening visitors.
