Australian-Shepherd-Lovers.com Newsletter #001

Greetings Fellow Australian Shepherd Lover,

I'm pleased to present the

Premiere Edition of the
Australian-Shepherd-Lovers.com Newsletter

It's been a while in the coming but I've been busy working on the website and have added several new sections recently.

Breeder Directory

Our Breeder Directory is off to a great start! We've had a very positive response to this free service and I'm adding more breeders to the list every day. Some of the best Australian Shepherd and Miniature Australian Shepherd Breeders are represented including Hall of Fame Kennels.

If you are looking for a breeder you can find the directory here:
https://www.australian-shepherd-lovers.com/breeder-directory.html

If you are a breeder and you haven't added your kennel yet, here is the link to the sign-up form:

Puppy Mill Awareness Campaign - We Need Your Support

One of the most disturbing problems related to dog breeding is the existence of puppy mills. In order to help raise awareness about this issue we have created graphic banners you can add to your website in support of this campaign.

Of course two great alternatives to puppy mills are reputable breeders and rescue organizations. One of the banners reads, "STOP PUPPY MILLS! Choose a Reputable Breeder" and the other says, "STOP PUPPY MILLS! Adopt a Rescue Aussie".

For your convenience we have made the HTML code to add these banners to your site available here:
https://www.australian-shepherd-lovers.com/link.html

It's easy. Just copy and paste the code where you want it to appear on your website. Depending on which banner is clicked on it will either link to the Breeder Directory or our Aussie Rescue Organization Directory.

Health Issues Section

Our Health Issues section covers the main subjects of Hereditary Diseases, Viruses and Bacteria, Worms and Parasites as well as a page dedicated to information about Pet Health Insurance. Since the subject of breeding has come up in this newsletter I should mention our page about a hereditary condition that arises when two merle patterned dogs are bred together.

This condition is referred to as double or homozygous merle and can potentially result in a predominantly white Aussie. These white Aussies are sometimes called lethal whites (although this is a misnomer) and can be born partially or completely deaf and/or blind.

Upcoming Features

I am working on several sections including Working Stock Dogs, Food and Nutrition as well as expanding the Aussie Training and Agility sections.

Check back with us often as we are always adding more great information. Please let us know if there is something you would like to see on Australian-Shepherd-Lovers.com.

We love to hear from fellow Aussie Lovers. Send us your ideas, your feedback and photos of your Aussie or Mini Aussie so we can include them on the site.

All the Best and Woof!,

Scott and Levi

PS: I almost forgot. I've also added a daily cartoon. It's right on the home page so it's easy to find. This daily cartoon is created by Mark Anderson. Start your day with a smile, enjoy!
