Training and Care — Tip Of The Week
Excerpt from Our New
Australian Shepherd Lover's Guide To Australian Shepherd Training & Care
Excerpt #105
High Five
Once you've taught the Shake you can also teach the High Five. It's a similar move – in fact, the process of teaching it is pretty much the same. The only difference is where you put your hands.
1. Ball your hand up into a fist with a motivational treat inside, just as you did for the Shake.
2. Hold your hand up and wait until she paws at it. Click and reward.
3. When she's doing this consistently, start raising your hand higher and higher each time.
4. Switch to hiding the treat behind your back. Hold up your empty hand with the palm forward, just as you would for a High Five.
5. Say the "High Five" command.
6. When her paw touches your palm, click and reward.

Dog Quote of the Week
"You can't replace one dog with another any more than you can replace one person with another, but that's not to say you shouldn't get more dogs and people in your life."
