Australian-Shepherd-Lovers.com Newsletter #110

Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg Is At It Again!

I've spent years building Australian-Shepherd-Lovers.com as a labor of love. I'm proud of the community of fellow Aussie Lovers that we have become. We now have thousands of pages on the website including the Q & A Forum and all of the articles (with many more to come).

One of the main ways I've kept in touch with you, other than this newsletter, is through our Facebook page. Even though about 48,000 people follow our Facebook page we used to only be able to reach about 10% of those with our posts. That was bad enough. Now I can only reach about 1% of you on a good day.

What Is Happening On Facebook?

It seems that Mark Zuckerberg, Chairman and CEO of Facebook has decided that since communities like ours have now been built, after years of work, it's time to choke us out and demand a king's ransom. In addition to all the advertising revenue Facebook makes they now want to charge big bucks to "Boost" every post.

It doesn't matter that you've already "Followed" our page and asked to see Australian Shepherd Lovers posts in your feed. Mr. Zuckerberg had decided that he, and not you, will determine what you will and won't see on Facebook.

What You Can Do To See The Posts You Want

If you haven't already, please go to our Facebook page here and "Follow" us. Then...

  1. Click on the "Following" button just under the banner at the top of the page and click on the "See First" option under "IN YOUR NEWS FEED". (See screenshot below.)
  2. When you are on our Facebook page please "Like" the posts, make Comments, and Share. This really helps spread the word. Facebook will show posts that have Likes/Comments/Shares to more people—before they demand I pay them to reach you!

Of course, Facebook is a business and they have the right to run it in whatever manner they wish. I hope Mark Zuckerberg doesn't get too big for his britches and turn Facebook into another MySpace. People are already migrating away from Facebook and setting up on other sites like Minds.com. You can even find our own Australian Shepherd Lovers page and get your own free account on Minds.com here.

We shall overcome! :-) In the meantime, keep in touch on Facebook, Minds, Twitter, and Gab. (And coming soon to Instagram...)

All the Best,

~ Anton

Korah Caboose is 4 years old. She was in a cage the first three months of her life. When she had pneumonia they wanted to put her down instead of fixing her. So me being a RVT and that was always my dream dog, I asked them to sign her over to me. Now she has been my best friend my pal and we have lots of fun together. She's so smart.
