Breeding A Black Tri With A Black Tri

I have 2 black tri's, a male and a female. Someone once told me that if I breed them all they can have is black tri's? Is that true?

One of your tris could be phantom merle... but that's highly doubtful. Your tris could be carrying red and if they both are, you could get both red and black tris.

A breeding of two black tris will only produce black tris unless both are also red factored. Then can also produce red tris. But a breeding of 2 red tris will only produce red tris. There is a gene for color and a gene for pattern.

if they both are red factored no you will not get just black tris, you may just get some red tris also.
