We have a 9 month old blk lab cross aussie shepard and he is constantly dropping his food when he eats and a friend told us this is a sign of illness of some sort...

My dog has always done that, why I don't know, but for some strange reason he prefers the taste off the floor, other than his bowl; actually, many dogs I know, do that at some time or other. It doesn't mean anything except a preference I believe.
