15-Week-Old Female Australian Shepherd Biting, Nipping Draws Blood on Our Hands and Legs

by John
(Churchville, VA)

Have owned a full-blooded female Australian Shepherd for 6 weeks. I'm unable to stop her from biting and nipping. I have owned several different types of dogs over the years, never have had a dog act like this.

I live on 9 acres, have 5 head of sheep for pup to interact with, which she does. I have to make a decision soon as the bites we get are difficult to deal with. I cannot see spending huge sums of money on training. I bought this dog to help with herding sheep.

My 10-week-old Mini Aussie does the same thing. I've given him chew toys, bones, etc. He likes chewing on me better. He has also growled at me when outside if I pick him up to come in if he's not ready, but gets over it quick. Hope it's just a puppy thing.
