3 Month Old Aussie Nipping

by Jacqueline
(Indianapolis, IN)

Hello, My 3 year old Aussie male has been having an issue with nipping people. They have been people who have been out on walks that we meet and know him and do not provoke him. He won't nip me, my family or my boyfriend so I'm finding it very hard to correct it when it happens. However, I need to prevent it from happening before someone gets extremely upset. They are not mean bites, just nips.

Any advice?

I really suggest to enroll him in a puppy class. In this class, he will learn how to be social in a positive way, and you will learn how to get him out of situations that you don't want him in. This will also strengthen your bond with your puppy. Aussies are herding dogs and this behavior is instinctual. The class will help him to adjust to new situations and how to greet people and other dogs.
