Ive done this twice
by: Anonymous

My first aussie, we got a border collie within a week of getting the aussie. It worked, mostly. Except the auss was always wanting first position in everything and pushed the border collie out of the way in terms of play and affection.

Recently, I tried it again... however we had the aussie 3 months prior to getting a golden retriever. It did not work out sadly.

My aussie was too possessive and too aggressive (rough) in play and herding the golden. Plus, the golden had coccidia, which i hear is common, but I've never dealt with it before, and gave it to my aussie. Which left me with the heavy heart of rehoming the golden. Fortunately, He went to a very loving home. But it cost in vet bills, sick dog, special meds, foods. Its been a nightmare. Personally, i will never do it again.

My best advice would be to anyone, do it immediately before your aussie has a strong bond with you.
