Adding Second Australian Shepherd: Is It Better To Have Male/Female Or Male/Male?

by Heidi
(Liberty Hill, Tx)

We have had a female Aussie for 3 years, we are wanting to add another. we are looking for one about two to three years old. Does age matter and does sex matter, my female is fixed and whatever we get will be also.

Better to have 1 female and 1 male or 2 females?

I came on this site to search for info to answer the exact same question, almost literally word-for-word (have a 3 yo black tri female and looking for 2nd dog 1-2 yo). Hoping someone with experience will comment, but if you find out any information from other sources, I’d appreciate it if you would pass it along.
