Apollo, My Mini Australian Shepherd, Nipped a Friend Visiting My Home

by Alex Pohlman
(Roanoke, VA )

Hello. I’ve just recently moved into my own apartment after staying at my parents for about a year. With me I’ve brought my dog Apollo. He’s used to people being around at my parents so I want to try to get him used to being alone more often while I’m at work.

He seems to be doing ok when I get home (he’s quiet) and so far no accidents or anything destroyed in the house. He does throw a little bit of a fit when I leave. He is used to me going to work. And I always, unless it rains, take him out to throw the ball or walk when I’m home.

I’ve also had a friend over to show them my place and he nipped at their ankles while they walked through. He’s never done this and I was wondering what to do.
