Australian Shepherd Excessive Shedding

by Tamara
(California)

Hi! My almost 4 year old intact Australian Shepherd is once again shedding A LOT!! She did this last February and now she is doing it again, starting in September.

She sheds down to very fine, thin hair. Not to mention hair EVERYWHERE!

Does anyone else's dog do this and will having her spayed lessen this? She looks unhealthy when she sheds down this far, though that is not the case.

Thanks!

Tamara

Normal

This is perfectly normal. My Aussie, who is from herding lines, also sheds profusely twice a year. This is healthy and good and they grow back in the coat that is appropriate for the time of year.
