Australian Shepherd Grooming

by Kathryn
(Oklahoma)

We have an Aussie we adopted from a shelter. His hair isn't as silky as others I've seen. It's like fuzzy and dull almost. Is there a shampoo or treatment to help with that.

Good food
by: Anonymous

The key to an improved coat (and health in general) is feeding fresh meats (either cooked or raw) along with a little bit of veggies and little bit of some fruits. Avoid feeding grains (corn, wheat, oats, etc...) since the canine digestive system is not designed to digest grains. You can add a spoonful of coconut oil or a sardine to the food. Also give an appropriate vitamin/mineral supplement. If you want to buy ready-to-feed food, you can buy frozen raw meals, or you could feed grain-free canned food.
