Australian Shepherd Mix Herding and Nipping When Walking

by Valerie
(Colorado, USA)

Help! My Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix is 13 weeks old and is exhibiting very intense herding nipping behaviors, especially towards bare legs.

I've contacted the only two trainers local to me and both had somewhat odd answers for me. One said "it's his way of playing - he's inviting you to play" and the other said, "you own a herding breed, what did you expect". So, I need immediate virtual help whether that's a program or a private virtual session with a trainer!

Help! He’s drawing blood!

There is a page on this website that talks about nipping and herding. Click on "Navigation" on the menu. Then click "Training Your Aussie". Scroll to the bottom of the page and there will be a list of links. The nipping and herding one is under the section titled "Behavior Problems". It should be the 9th one down.

Good Luck!!
