Australian Shepherd Puppy With Pink Eye Rims

by Rhonda

We purchased an Aussie puppy that has pink eye rims. The vet checked him out very well and said all is good but just wanted other opinions.

Thank you.

Good that you have a thorough check from your vet and the pup is healthy. I imagine the pink colour is due to the pup having no colour on its face. Although the breed standard is for color around the eyes this doesn't affect the dog's health at all. It will still be tons of fun!

We have a double merle australian shepherd and he's albino so he has a lot of pink too which means easily sunburned! Other than that I think everything is fine as far as that goes.

Liver Shih Tzu with pink eye rims

My Shih Tzu puppy is a liver Shih Tzu with pink eye rims. I’ve had him thoroughly checked by the vet and all is well. His skin is pink and his hair is white with brown and copper coloring. Like others have stated, this is considered a "defect" for this breed if I were entering in the National Registry, but other than that, he’s healthy, beautiful, and very intelligent. The vet did warn us about him being susceptible to sunburn, so we take him out to play later in the day.
