Australian Shepherd Wants Constant Attention In The Evening

by Lilly
(Virginia)

Our two-year-old female Aussie demands constant attention in the evenings. If we aren’t petting her, playing with her or giving her a treat, she sits and stares at us until we do.

We can’t enjoy reading or tv without feeling guilty with her staring at us.

Aussie mugging

Our 3 yr old does this too. I tell him to go lie down on his mat with his stuffie. During the day he has had three walks, several lap cuddles and lots of attention. His job after that is to go be on his own. No guilt! If you just ignore the stares and nudges eventually they get it.

Smart dog you have

Playing on your guilt is what seems to be happening, so I would set some boundaries, and stick with those boundaries to the letter. It will take a while but you will both be better for it! Good luck!
