Best Leash for training

Retractables are not good for any kind of training. Find a leash, nylon or leather that is comfortable for your hand.

Hope that helps.

Best leash

I use a leather 6ft lead for close work but I do use a 25ft retractable when teaching recall.
I put the dog in a sit/stay and walk away starting at about 8ft as we've done 6ft on the short lead.
Call the dog and bring to a sit in front of you.
I do this all the way to 25ft until it becomes habit. Then when I trust the dog and the behavior i work off leash.
the retractable is great as it coils itself up as the dog comes to you.
