Blindness and Deafness Question

by Jo
(PA)

Hi. I just got a 10 week old blue merle Mini Australian Shepherd. I was told that she was born blind and deaf, but now has her eyesight. (She is still deaf as far as I know.)

The vet told her that it was "delayed development". The dam is a black tri, the sire a blue merle.

Will she ever be hearing? Is there a chance she will lose her sight? I'm not sure what to think. (I just got her today, so I have not taken her to my vet yet.)

The other 5 puppies are fine—4 merles/2 tris. (I went to pick up the Red Merle and fell for this one.)

Thanks!
