Blue Eyed Red-Tri Puppy

by Emily
(Toronto, Ontario, Canada)

She is a red-tri Australian Shepherd, and is currently 5 weeks old. Her mom is a red tri with amber eyes and the dad's a blue merle. Will her eyes stay blue or eventually turn Amber?

My Max looked the same when he was a puppy, looks just like yours at that time... his eyes turned brown, he is my constant companion and has been at my side for 12 years now... nothing like a loving companion.

The eyes may change, it's still to early to tell. Give it some more time. Beautiful puppy.

My Merle had blue eyes til 3 months old and then went light brown which really suits his face better now that I'm used to it.

Our red tri started with both blue eyes, as she grew they changed to more of an arctic blue, very light color.

Blue Eye/Marbled Eye
by: Anonymous

My Aussie is a red tri, she is now almost 10 months, and has a blue eye and a marbled blue/green/amber eye. However, when I first ot her, her marbled eye was almost all amber, except for a tiny speck of blue. But by the time she was three months or so, that eye was almost completely blue. And then they changed EVER SO SLIGHTLY, now they are blue at the top, green on the side, hazel towards the bottom, and amber at the very bottom. So my opinion is it could change, it could also not change. It also depends on the shade of blue, because I knew that her one eye that was completely blue, would stay blue.
