Breeders Specializing in Larger, Healthy Australian Shepherds

by Destinyrenee Duplechain

I've seen quite a lot of Australian Shepherds with their owners who are much bigger than the standard. They haven't been overweight, they have been very healthy looking tall beautiful dogs. When I ask this please understand I'm referring to the working breed, the one that is 60-70lb and tall. Not standard size and overweight. Kind of like how there's the standard German Shepherd, and then the working breed (I grew up with one that was 5ft long and 180lb of solid muscle just like his dad, so healthy, was with my family for 16 years).

If anyone knows a breeder in south USA that produces healthy larger Aussies, I would adore the help! I've searched everywhere but it all seems to be a dead end!

Also I added a picture of my girl now just because. 😁

The "little blue dogs" - the original working Australian Shepherds - were not that big.

My Australian Shepherd had a litter of 12 back in December. At 10 weeks old, a couple of the males weighed in at 20 lb. These guys are definitely a handful, but love my Aussies. George from Michigan's upper peninsula.

My 'little girl' isn't so little anymore, at 6 1/2 month she was 54 lbs over 21" of bounce and still hasn't filled out. I'm in Fla but could tell you her breeder if you want. Her parents are bigger dogs but not enormous.
