Coat Feels Rough And Wirey

I saw someone post having the same issue I'm having. My girl is almost 8 months old and her coat feels wirey and rough (kinda like a hog). Her mother is a pure Mini Australian Shepherd, dad is unknown because they don't know if their other type shepherd got her because her color is like a red black merle but it looks sort of brindle. We thinks maybe a GS could be in the mix maybe. Any tips on how I can get her silky and soft would be awesome.

Not always anything you can do

While your issue may or may not be indicative of a mixed breed, this can also happen with a purebred Aussie. I’ve raised Aussie’s with an impeccable pedigree and have pups from the same litters come up with varying coats. Soft and shiny or coarse and wirey. My bloodline is triple registered- ASCA, CKC, and the NSDR (which is especially picky about their registry, adhering to strict breed standards and breeding practices)

I have an over a year old Aussie and her fur was the same as your pups all her life and still is. There is nothing wrong, I’ve read a lot that Aussies with lineage of working dogs get this kind of fur.
