Female to Female Aggression

by Mark Rubino
(Cedar Lake, IN)

We have two 6-month-old Black Tri females. They are half sisters (same father, different mothers born 5-days apart). The younger one is food and toy aggressive to the other and the fighting can be intense at times.

Any suggestions?

Two aggressive dogs in same household
by: Catherine Williams

I had this happen but a little older between two females in same household. It will not end and it gets worse. Get professional advice, a trainer they are still young enough. My brother had the same issues and re-homed and I had to let one go too. Very heartbreaking situation. Females can fight and badly hurt/kill the other pup. This happened to a breeder. One trainer I worked said it had to do with being close to the same age. I introduced a younger dog a few years later to the one I have and no problem because the younger dog backed down. Sometimes fighting for alfa position. My one Aussie would not be second and the fighting continued. Very very heartbreaking and I still cry for my other dog because I loved her very much. I wish you good luck. By the way they were half siblings too. Be careful and break them up or watch them before they go at each other.
