Fur, Fur and More Fur!

Tucker Dock Diving

My 5 yr old Aussie has been blowing his coat since the end of July... is this normal? I was told by a friend that it is a sign of a rough winter to come (we live in upstate NY).

Tucker usually has a beautiful, soft and clean coat all year long... softer than most Aussies. He has always shed (as do all Aussies) but nothing out of the normal. His fur never mats or smells but this summer has been a furry and stinky mess!

He can go swimming in our lake everyday and he never used to smell and his coat would be practically glowing when he dried off! I feed him fish oil and he is on a fish based diet due to allergies.

Do Aussies coats change as they get older?
