Getting an Australian Shepherd Male Puppy in Our Household With a 4-Year-Old Aussie Female

by Becky
(Virginia)

We have the most wonderful 4-year-old female Aussie. I want another Aussie... as playmate and another pup to love. We have had an incredible amount of stress from my husband's job and our son and I want a positive, fun influence.

Our pup loves to run and romp with other dogs. She used to go to doggy day care 1-2 times a week but I have retired and we don't do that anymore. We don't like dog parks so unless she runs and romps with other dogs on a leash in the park, she doesn't get to do this.

My husband is afraid to “mess up” what we have and is worried another dog would hurt her and change her personality.

What are others' experiences? Advice please...

Perhaps you could consider fostering a dog from an Aussie Rescue organization. That would give you a chance to see how it works without making a lifetime commitment.
