Fear Aggression
by: Nonnie / Dee Cutshall

Check out your local PetSmart pet store for obedience classes. Talk to the trainer. Our mini became fear aggressive after I had lumbar surgery for herniated disk. She sensed that I was vulnerable and became very protective. She was only four months old. The trainer was able to help us a lot.

Good luck.

Something may have happened with your pup's previous owner's husband to make her afraid. But sometimes pups just develop strange fears at this age. You could have your husband and son take care of all the pup's needs-- feeding, walking, training, etc. I also suggest that your son hand feed the pup in his lap. You should consult a positive reinforcement trainer to help you through this. Good luck. With some work, you will have a great dog.

I have found a squirt gun or bottle used at the precise moment to take the moment away from the dog and redirect it towards you. I have used this with my two males who become competitive towards peoples attention and many other situations. When they were young they would run up to people pulling in the driveway and want to jump on them and their cars. Super Soakers work best for distance.
