Housebreaking a 5-Month-Old Australian Shepherd

(Sylvia Escobar)

My Aussie is almost 5 months old and still not housebroken. I am an experienced dog and Aussie owner and have never had this much trouble housebreaking a dog. Thinking about calling in a behaviorist.

Hang in there

I had the same problem with my Jasper. I tried all the recommended methods without result. One day he went to the door and whined. It was like a light bulb went off in his head. He now understood what was wanted and has never had an accident since. He is now 11 years old. So stay with it, they sometimes seem very 'thick' but once learned they have great memories. He is my third Aussie and every one of them were different and loved very much.
