How Can You Tell The Difference Between An Australian Shepherd And A Miniature?

by Heather
(Terre Haute IN, USA)

I just rescued what was said to be a Mini Australian Shepherd. He is adorable I think he is great. I have been researching on the net. All the pics I have seen of pups of what they said a 4 month old pup he looks more like an Australian Shepherd than a Mini. I would like to know is there a look or size difference at this age? I love him no matter what I am just curious.

Note from Anton: I know this can be a hot-button issue for many so please keep comments educational and civil. You can find more info about Aussie vs Mini Aussie here.

full size will be the bottom line

the bottom line is tha a mini will not grow as big as an australian shepherd. australian shepherds tend to be about 65 pounds, and are taller; where as a mini may be as much as 35 pounds and a little shorter. everything else is basically the same as far as temperament, characteristics, etc., why they are not recognized as the same breed is beyond me.
