Is My Bi-Color Australian Shepherd Actually a Merle?

by Maridy
(Nevada)

Our bi-color(?) Aussie got pregnant by a merle Border Collie and when I was researching puppies I came across the issue with breeding double merles. I thought, no biggie, she's not a merle", but then looking at her face I got to wondering.

Are her face markings indicative of a merle? Aside from if the puppies have genetic issues, how can we be sure if she is a merle or not?

Looks like a bi to me. If you're referring to the freckles on her nose, that's called ticking and is totally not related to merle.
