Is My Little Tomgirl Too Fluffy?

by Gayla
(Kentucky)

My husband and I just recently got a 7-week-old blue merle Australian Shepherd and, oh my, she is fluffy. Extremely fluffy. And it makes us wonder if she is is truly an Aussie or an Aussie mix 'cause most Australian Shepherds we have seen don't have this much hair or is it just because she is young and her hair will get shorter as she grows or will it continue growing with her?

I know some Australian Shepherds do have long coats but a lot do not. They end up with short to medium coats. What do you guys think?

Tomgirl too fluffy

We have had 3 purebred Aussies. Our first we received at 8 weeks and she was not as fluffy when we received her. The next two we saw after they were born and they were very fluffy. As they grew older their coats grew out to a beautiful length.
