Is My Mini Aussie Mixed? Size?

by Chris
(Dallas, Tx)

Hey guys! I just got my boy Luke 3 days ago! So far he is great, and I'm so glad he's a part of my life now.

The breeder showed me a pic of the parents, but they were rather unclear, so I'm waiting for them to send me some others. He's currently 3 and a half months old, and weights 12 pounds.

What do you guys think? I've been told that this is a normal stage where his legs grow, but his fur stays short. Also, does anyone have any idea how big he will get? Any answers are highly appreciated!

Thank you so much.

Thank you guys! I've also noticed that his head is starting to look a little small compared to his body. Is this normal for minis?

My mini weighed about 12 lbs at that age. As an adult, she is now 17 inches tall. She was built like that as a youngster: long legs, short hair. The coat lengthened, then became fuller. Although she's not as full-coated as some Aussies, she has a heavy wooly undercoat and silky topcoat.

Your Luke looks like a full-bred Aussie. Beautiful red tricolor.

I'm sure he'll bring you lots of fun and devotion.

So cute!

He looks like a normal young Aussie to me. Beautiful color and markings. My large mini had long legs and a short coat at that age. The coat gradually lengthened to a silky coat and then to a fuller coat. Can't tell you about the weight.

Have fun with your new buddy and love him lots.
