Jumping And Nipping

by Allison
(Texas)

My husband and I are first time Aussie owners. Our 4.5 month old Aussie has about half of his permanent teeth. Recently he's started herding by jumping and lunging with his teeth. He'll nip but then hold on to your clothes, or self.

Any ideas on how to correct this? I know he's still teething but this seems to be more than just teething behavior.

TOYS!
by: Richard Bryant

He wants attention and interaction. lot's of toys helps. Ball or Frisbee and see if he takes to it. Then you'll have the issue of always having ball or Frisbee pushed at you. It's all about the attention.
Our Ozzy will try and nip me occasionally when mowing lawn and Finley has nipped on occasion but never do they hold on. Zoey has never nipped or herded. She daddy's girl.

Nipping
by: Helen

My Aussie is 5 (neutered male) still nips occasionally. More irritating than painful and usually when he wants everyone to get moving instead of wasting time. Very obedient but this has been hard to break.
