Looking To Breed Australian Shepherd But Don't Want To Go Through A Breeder

Looking to breed but not looking to profit money. I just want the pick of the litter. I don’t want to go through a breeder if I don't have to.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Kenny

Not sure I understand your comment? Breeders use their own dogs, I doubt they would do a litter with your dog, unless she was from their kennel. Some, however, might loan their stud dogs out for a fee, if that is what you are asking. But you would be responsible for the litter.

It might be easier to just buy another Aussie.

So you have a male I take it?

Yes he is a male. I just want to breed him cause he’s such a great dog. I don’t really want to pay a breeder fee and have to deal with entire liter. I’d just like to stud him out for pick of liter.

Breeders won't use an outside male that doesn't have something exemplary going for him - such as great show record, outstanding working ability, all genetic and health checks etc. They want males that can sell the litter for them, and that will enhance their own breeding lines. A 'just a pet', no matter how great, doesn't make the cut. And they expect to pay for the stud service.

In your situation, your most likely success would be putting up an ad at local feed store, vets, and pet shops, maybe on Craigslist.
