Maddy, The Wonder Dog

by Wynelle
(North Carolina)

Maddy is a 5 year old female blue merle that we consider our "wonder dog." She is a registered social therapy dog and goes weekly to a day care for special needs folks. Maddy knows her friends there well and reacts to them in individual ways, according to their preferences. For example, one of her young ladies likes to have kisses and will get down on the floor with Maddy, duck her head to prevent kisses on the mouth and eyes and ask Maddy to kiss her all over--which Maddy happily does.

Another young man is always sitting in a recliner type chair and expects Maddy to gently come up on his lap and give him just one kiss. She does just that. It's a great pleasure to have the entire room happily exclaim, "Here's Maddy!" when we walk in the door.

An outstanding athlete who inherited her grandfather's agility and frisbee talent, she would be a star in that arena if we pursued it.

She is Maddy, The Wonder Dog extraordinaire.
