Me and My Girlfriend Are Wondering if Our Australian Shepherd Puppy Is Purebred

We bought an Australian Shepherd from Craigslist. This is our first one and we love him to death but we didn’t get papers. We are just wondering if he is mixedcause he does not look like the Aussie puppies we saw.

It’s not like we are going to be mad if he is mixed, it’s just bothering my girlfriend cause she’s really curious. haha

Note from Anton: You can get a dog DNA test done that will tell you the breed(s). You can find dog DNA tests available on Amazon here.

My first reaction on seeing your pup was Pit Bull in the shape of his head and his slightly shorter ears. There is definitely a lot of Aussie in him too though, very cute face!

A test is the answer

It's kind of hard to tell at this age. Some can be really fluffy while others may not be. I have two Aussies. My female is a blue merle. She has always been fluffy since she was a pup while my male red bi Aussie has a shorter coat, but I got him when he was already 1 year old. But even if your pup is mixed he definitely has some Aussie in him. :) Best way to know is to get a test.

Possibly Pit mix?

My first reaction (much like a previous reply) was that it is a Pitbull Aussie mix. The only way to for sure know is a dna test.
