Miniature Australian Shepherd Puppy Aggression

by Danny
(Boston, MA)

We welcomed a Miniature Australian Shepherd to our family 2 weeks ago (now 10 weeks old, Mini red tri) and are having some concerns about her ggression/aggressive bitinga and snarling, especially at night and when on-leash. She snaps at us and will oftentimes grab hold of our pant legs and growl.

We've tried many different methods (offering her a treat/toy in exchange, calming her down) but we are just concerned that the aggression will worsen as she gets older. Is this normal in Mini Aussie puppies or should we be concerned?

Thanks,

Danny

Act like her mom

Do what her mom would do. GENTLY hold her by the back of the neck near the shoulder and pin her till she gives up. You’ll know when she does.

Thanks for your reply! We've tried doing this and it doesn't seem to work very well either. We want to think it is her playing with us, but sometimes that turns into snarling and biting aggressively.

She also gets extremely aggressive anytime we try to take something dangerous out of her mouth. We appreciate any and all feedback!
