Our Bestest Buddy Levi

Levi as a Puppy About 5 Months Old

Levi is the best dog I've ever had, and the smartest. One lady who took care of Levi when we were away one time said he was so smart it was "eerie".

He definitely has a herding instinct. My wife and I would go to a park down at the end of our street. We would stand 100 feet apart and take turns calling him, but as soon as he started to come we would run away. He would quickly catch up and (gently) nip our legs herding us back into position. (I don't necessarily recommend this, especially for kids.)

His other favorite pastime is fetch, which he will play until my arm falls off! Every day when I got home from work that was our ritual.

Our two cats (Zoaie and Yoshi) knew better than to step out of line because Officer Levi was always on patrol. But from time to time they would get into a tussle. Not on Levi's watch!! He would race over and break up the disturbance immediately. No fighting allowed. My wife and I couldn't even horse around without drawing a stern reprimand.

He was very protective of my wife so he would keep a close eye on anyone who was near her (including me). She would sometimes joke and say the word "OW!". It didn't matter where he was he would race into the room to make sure she was okay and he would give everyone a dirty look as if to say "She better be okay, or else!".

We didn't have kids so we could be a bit flexible on this behavior and it was good to know that if anyone really tried to harm my wife that Levi would definitely step in to protect her.

Levi is the best dog I've ever had, or ever will...
