Outcome Of Tri To Tri Breeding

by Cassandra

Is there any chance of getting a merle, out of a tri to tri breeding, when there is a parent to both sire and dam that are merle's?

I believe that Tri to Tri breeding will not produce merles UNLESS one of the Tri's is actually a Phantom merle (Cryptic merle) which is a dog that is genetically merle but appears to not be merle (rare). Sometimes a phantom merle will have a tiny bit of merle somewhere on the body, but the only way to know for sure is genetic testing. So the odds are that you won't get any merles. But Tri's are so gorgeous!
